As a result of his impactful work, he was rewarded the Kenneth Y. Tomlinson Award for Outstanding Journalism in the same year, the Sol Taishoff Award for Excellence in Broadcast Journalism in 2017 and Urbino Press Award in 2018.

His other New York Times bestseller titled “Special Heart: A Journey of Faith, Hope, Courage and Love” chronicling his young son Paul Baier’s brave journey through the seemingly endless maze of medical procedures and operations required to sustain his life since being born in 2007 with five congenital heart defects. He revealed how it has changed and shaped the way he looks at work and life. By donating all of his speaking fees and proceeds from his book to various non-profit organizations involved in pediatric heart disease research and treatment, Baier hopes to help other people in need to receive better medical care.
In April of 2016, Bret was hired as the motivational keynote speaker for the University of Mobile’s 11th Annual Leadership Banquet, and as speaker of spring breaker series in Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
