Michael Eisner

Beginning his career at ABC, Michael Eisner helped the then, number three network move to number one in primetime, daytime and children’s TV with shows including Happy Days, Barney Miller, Rich Man; Poor Man, and Roots. President of Paramount Pictures in 1976, he began throwing out films like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Saturday Night Fever, Grease and Terms of Endearment. The list of highly notable films made the studio become number one in box office and profitability in movies and network TV production.

Later named the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company, Michael helped convert the theme park and film company with $1.8 billion in enterprise to a global media kingdom worth $80 billion. His next venture was founding The Tornante Company, which invests in, acquires, incubates, and operates media and entertainment companies. They eventually acquired The Topps Company in 2007 and transformed into a mega sports media brand. The next year, Viacom’s Nick at Nite received distribution rights to Glenn Martin, DDS. This was Tornante’s first TV series under the newly developed division; Tornante Animation, and for his accomplishments in media he was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame in 2012.

Michael is the author of three books, including his most recent called WORKING TOGETHER: Why Great Partnerships Succeed, which profiles several successful partnerships in the business world and beyond. Besides media, TV and books Michael has contributed a lot of his time to charity like his own, which is The Eisner Foundation, founded in 1996 by Michael and Jane Eisner to help provide access and opportunity for children and the elderly in Los Angeles County.
