Oscar winning actress in a leading role in The Iron Lady at the 84th Annual Academy Awards, celebrity speaker Meryl Streep is widely regarded as the most talented and respected film actress of her era. In 1971’s The Playboy of Seville Meryl made her stage debut and made her movie debut in The Deadliest Season in 1977. Her first Oscar nomination came with her role in The Deer Hunter and an Oscar win came after her role in Kramer vs. Kramer. Meryl Streep won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance in Sophie’s Choice and The Iron Lady.

With a total of 17 Academy Award nominations, 26 Golden Globe nominations, Meryl Streep has had more nominations that any other actor in the history of either award.
