Verdine White

Celebrity speaker and world renowned musician Verdine White came to prominence with the popular R&B band, Earth, Wind and Fire. Verdine is the brother of EW&F’s original founder Maurice White and continues to perform with the popular group who has had dozens of different members and has carried its popularity across 5 different decades. Verdine’s success has led to 6 Grammy awards on 18 nominations. In addition, he was ranked as the 27th best bass player of all time and was inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame in 2010 and is also a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

When he’s not performing himself, Verdine likes to remain involved in the music industry producing for other groups such as Level 42 and The Emotions. In addition to songwriting, Verdine has dabbled as an author. He wrote an instructional booklet, “How to Play the Bass,” explaining how to play the instrument he’s so skilled at playing.

Celebrity speaker Verdine is also a devoted philanthropist. He has worked with Philip Bailey‘s Music is Unity Foundation, where EW&F donates a percentage of all their ticket sales to the foundation. Verdine also co-founded the Verdine White Performing Arts Center, which is a non-profit that helps underprivileged youth become involved in music through scholarships among other things.

Celebrity speaker Verdine has delivered speeches in the past. In 2008 EW&F performed at a Columbia commencement and Verdine gave a commencement speech. Verdine has also worked as an endorser working with brands such as Panasonic in the 1980s and more recently having brands such as Kohl’s and Subway use EW&F’s music in their advertisements.
