Olympic Speaker Tyson Gay is an American track and field sprinter, focusing on the 100 meters and 200 meters. His personal best time in the 100 meters places him as the second fastest athlete and the third fastest athlete in history for the 200 meters.
Tyson has won many medals in international competitions, which was highlighted by his gold medal sweep in the 100 meters, 200 meters and 4×100 meter relay at the Osaka World Championships. This made him the 200 meter World Championships record holder and the second sprinter to win all three events at the same World’s meet, after Maurice Greene.
The 2008 US Olympic Trials were next and Tyson set the U.S. record in the 100 meters and ran the second fastest time ever. Unfortunately, while running the 200 meters, he endured a brutal hamstring injury which contributed to his failure to win a single medal at the Beijing Olympics. Tyson Gay is the only sprinter to have beaten Usain Bolt in a final since Usain made his first world record run. Tyson also has the fastest wind-assisted mark in sprinting history. Most recently, Tyson won the 100-meters with Nike at Prefontaine Classic and his 100-meter relay team will compete at the 2015 World Championships.
Tyson also participates in the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s Project Believe program, which tests him to guarantee his system is clean of performance-enhancing drugs. Tyson has had sponsorship deals with Adidas, Omega SA, McDonald’s and Sega. He is available for satellite media tours, sporting events and autograph signings.
