Tamar Braxton

Celebrity Speaker Tamar Braxton is a 3-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter and reality TV personality. She rose to fame in the early 90’s after forming an R&B group with her talented sisters called The Braxtons. Tamar has gone on to enjoy a successful career as a solo artist releasing two solo albums with a third scheduled to release in October of 2015. Aside from her music career, Tamar is a natural entertainer. She is currently a co-host on the daytime talk show The Real with Tamara Mowry, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Adrienne Bailon. In September of 2015, Tamar was chosen to compete as a celebrity contestant on ABC’s hit dance competition series Dancing with the Stars.

In 1989, Celebrity Speaker Tamar Braxton and her four sisters Toni, Traci, Towanda and Trina signed their first record deal with Arista Records. Soon after the group was formed, Toni signed to LaFace Records as the label’s first female solo artist and Traci also decided to leave the group. Tamar, Towanda and Trina released their first album in 1996 called So Many Ways, which peaked at number 26 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Album charts. In 2011, the Braxton sisters and their mother Evelyn signed on with WE TV to star in a reality TV series called Braxton Family Values. The show’s first season was rated the #1 reality show on the network that year.

After 4 seasons of the show, Tamar and her husband Vincent Herbert starred in their own reality show spinoff, Tamar and Vince. In 2013, Tamar signed with Epic Records and would go on to release her second solo album, Love and War. The album debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 and number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. Tamar’s single, Let Me Know, featuring rapper Future, peaked at number two on Billboard Trending 140 chart, less than one hour after being released and eventually hit number just the next day. Her most recent single, If I Don’t Have You, released in May of 2015.

In January of 2014, Tamar received three Grammy Award nominations for Best Urban Contemporary Album for Love and War, Best R&B Song, and Best R&B Performance. Also known for her keen fashion sense, Celebrity Speaker Tamar Braxton launched her own clothing and shoe line called the Tamar Collection in November of 2014.
