Rosie O’Donnell began her comedy career as a teenager and her break came when she was on the talent show, Star Search. In 1996 she began hosting The Rosie O’Donnell Show, which won her multiple Emmy awards.
She wrote her first book, Find Me and used the book’s $3 million advance to establish her own For All Kids Foundation. Two months before her show was ending, Rosie O’Donnell came out saying she was gay. She stated her primary reason was to bring attention to gay adoption issues; as Rosie is a foster and adoptive mother.
In 2006, ABC brought Rosie O’Donnell on as a new moderator on The View and a year later released her second memoir, Celebrity Detox. Rosie has be cast in Love, Loss and What I Wore and had a show on the OWN: Oprah Winfrey Netowrk called The Rosie Show.
