Celebrity Sports speaker for hire Orel Hershiser is a former MLB baseball player, color commentator for the Los Angeles Dodgers, and professional poker player. Hershiser spent 18 seasons in the MLB playing for the Dodgers, Giants and Mets, earning All-Star honors, the NL Cy Young Award, and a World Series victory, being named MVP.

Hershiser has always had deep connections to the Los Angeles Dodgers, as he was drafted in the 17th round of the 1979 MLB draft by the Dodgers and spent 4 years in the minor leagues before being called up to the Dodgers in 1983. Hershiser would go on to be a successful pitcher for the Dodgers for 9 seasons. In 1985 he led the league in winning percentage with a dominant 19-3 pitching record, the beginning of a dominant career and the road to a World Series. In 1988, Hershiser became the only player in MLB history to win the Cy Young Award, the Championship Series MVP Award, and the World Series MVP Award in the same season. After leaving LA, he spent short stints with the Indians, Giants, and Mets before spending the last year of his career reuniting with the team that gave him his shot. He retired as a Dodger in 2000.

After ending his playing career, Hershiser spent time as a special consultant to the Dodgers before moving to become an analyst. He was hired to work for ABC and ESPN to commentate the Little League World Series, Wednesday Night Baseball, Baseball Tonight, and Sunday Night Baseball. He also spent time with the Texas Rangers as pitching coach and Executive Director. In 2014, Hershiser returned to his beloved Dodgers with SportsNet LA and serves as the primary network broadcaster for Dodger games.

Outside of his baseball career, Hershiser is a professional poker player and author. He’s played competitive poker since 2006 and has appeared in the World Series of Poker and many other competitions. He wrote Out of the Blue, and Between the Lines: Nine Things Baseball Taught Me About Life, detailing his life in baseball, his unlikely but dominant run to the World Series, and the principles that guide his daily life including discipline, adaptability, and perseverance.
