Olympic Speaker for hire Matthew Centrowitz is a long distance runner best known for winning the Gold Medal in the men’s 1500M at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Matthew is the first American runner since 1908 to win an Olympic Gold Medal in the men’s 1500M event. His father Matthew Centrowitz Sr. was a 2-Time U.S. Olympian and currently works as the head track coach at American University.
Olympic Speaker Matthew Centrowitz ran for the University of Oregon in college. While there, he was a part of the 4 by 1 Mile relay team that broke the NCAA record by more than a second in 2009. 2 years later he would win the 1500M event at both the Pac-10 Conference Championship and NCAA Men’s Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships before announcing his plans to turn pro.
Matthew made his first appearance in the Olympics during the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. He ran a great race in the 1500M including his patented signature kick at the end that brought him a mere .04 seconds away from a Bronze Medal. Knowing he was that close only fueled his passion to train for the Rio Games in 2016.
At the World Indoor Championships in 2016, Matthew won his first major championship in the 1500M. It was a sign of things to come as he went on to make history and win the 1500M in Rio with an impressive final kick of 50.6 seconds in the final 400M of the race.
