Olympic Speaker and professional swimmer Matt Grevers won the silver medal in the 100 m backstroke at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Graduate of Northwestern University, Matt’s parents are both from the Netherlands and he considered representing Netherlands in the Olympics, but eventually decided to represent the United States.
In the 2008 Olympics, Matt Grevers won two gold medals in the 400 m freestyle relay and the 400 m medley relay. He won an individual medal when he placed second in the 100 m backstroke behind American swimmer Aaron Peirsol. He is also a member of the 2009 World Aquatics Championship team and was a part of the winning 400 m freestyle relay team and won gold in the 400 m medley relay. Matt and wife Annie Chandler made national news when he proposed to Annie on the medal stand at the Missouri Grand Prix in February 2012. Matt saw success in the 2012 Olympics, bringing home two gold medals and a silver medal.
