Jim Skinner

Business Speaker Jim Skinner is the current Executive Chairman of Walgreens Boots and the former Vice Chairman and CEO of McDonald’s. Skinner began his career with McDonald’s in 1971 as a restaurant manager trainee. Skinner climbed through the ranks of McDonald’s corporate structure and was the company’s Chief Operating Officer before being appointed as CEO in 2004.

As CEO of McDonald’s, Skinner implemented a “Plan to Win” strategy focused on global alignment and a refocus of the company based on customer values. Through this he was able to increase McDonald’s sales 40% from 2004 to 2008. In 2012, Skinner retired as CEO of McDonald’s and was succeeded by Don Thompson

Jim Skinner still currently sits on the Board of Directors for McDonald’s as well as being on the Board of Illinois Tool Works, Hewlett-Packard and Walgreens as the Chairmen.

A great motivational speaker, Skinner is a perfect example of what dedication and hard work can get you. He did not graduate from college yet went on to lead a massive financial turnaround for McDonald’s internationally as the CEO.
