Social Media Speaker Jason Kottke, is a web designer, who designed the Silkscreen typeface and has won a Lifetime Achievement Award as a blogger. He was ranked #80 on the Technorati Top 100. In 1996, Jason started work as a web designer on projects for clients such as Charles Schwab. Jason Kottke was the designer of Silkscreen typeface which has been used by Adobe, MTV, and Volvo. His work has been featured in The New Yorker, The New York Times, Forbes and Brill’s Content.
He has served on the Advisory Board for SXSW Interactive from 2000-2003 while also speaking at the SXSW, Seybold and NetMedia conferences. Jason is also behind the Gawker logo creation.
Jason’s blogging career started with his first site, 0sil8, a collection of ‘digital experiments.’ In 2005, he announced that he had left his web design job in order to work on kottke.org fulltime. Jason Kottke guaranteed all content on the site would be free, while advocating readers to become ‘micropatrons’ by making voluntary contributions. In 2006, the blog became supported by paid advertisements, as part of the design-oriented advertising network The DECK. He is available for speaking engagements, personal appearances and endorsements.
