Amal Clooney is a Lebanese-British human rights lawyer who is qualified in the United States as well as the United Kingdom. In the spring semester of 2015, 2016, and 2018, she was also a professor for a human rights course at the Columbia Law School Human Rights Institute. Despite her high-profile career, she gained even more attention with her marriage to actor George Clooney in 2014.

Celebrity Speaker Amal Clooney got her education at Oxford University and New York University, which helped launch her career as a lawyer and activist. During her time at NYU, Amal worked for Sonia Sotomayor and at the U.S. Court of Appeals. Upon passing the bar exam, Clooney worked at a law firm in New York City as part of the defense group. After three years, she decided to put her focus on international law and worked as part of a UN Tribunal for Lebanon.

After this work, Clooney returned to Britain and became a barrister in London. She was later appointed to the United Nations commission a few times during 2013, and was involved in many other high-profile cases in representing Cambodia, the former Libyan Intelligence Chief, and many more. Amal also worked to fight for women’s rights in war zones, contributing to the Global Summit to End Sexual Violence in Conflict Initiative.

Amal has done many lectures on criminal law at top universities such as the University of London, and she also worked at Columbia Law School as well. As mentioned above, she taught multiple spring semester courses about human rights to educate the younger generations.

She has received numerous awards for not only her work as a lawyer, but her impeccible sense of style as well. Amal and George have two children, twins Ella and Alexander who were born in 2017. In 2018, the Clooneys donated $500,000 to the March for Our Lives Campaign after the tragic Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, which pushed other influencers to donate as well.
