Pete Buttigieg

Political speaker for hire Pete Buttigieg is an American politician and former Naval Intelligence Officer. He served as the 32nd mayor of the city of South Bend, Indiana since 2012. Moreover, he served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy Reserve from 2009-2017. In April 2019, Buttigieg officially announced that he was running for the Democratic nomination for president of the United States in 2020.

At just 37 years old, Buttigieg would become the youngest as well as the first openly gay LGBT American president of the United States, if elected. His platform includes support for universal healthcare, reducing income inequality, pro-environmental policies, dialogue and cooperation between the Democratic Party and organized labor, universal background checks for firearms purchases, the Equality Act, and preserving the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program for children of immigrants. Buttigieg also supports reforms that would end gerrymandering, overturn the Citizens United v. FEC decision, and abolish the Electoral College.
